The band is currently busy writing new songs for their sixth album (untitled). The material is still in a very early stage so it's
impossible to give any predictions regarding the nature of the music, but as usual the band will offer an album that is different
from their earlier efforts. Guitarist Niklas Sundin has this to say about their new material: "We're basically experimenting a lot
and trying different arrangements out. No song is 100 percent finished yet, and the material is constantly developing and taking
new forms, so it's a bit too early to know what the general direction of the next album will be. There's everything from
progressive, acoustic stuff to high-speed passages among the things we're working with, so it's all going to be very diverse.
Perhaps it'll be a mixture of all our past albums with some new influences thrown in for good measure." While waiting, make
sure to pick up Dark Tranquillity's latest triumph titled Haven that was released last July if you haven't already. Once again
produced by Fredrik Nordstrom at Gothenburg, Sweden's Studio Fredman the group's latest output features a heavier
direction with more aggressive vocals as compared to 1999's Projector album. Century Media USA has made the band's first
two classic efforts, Skydancer and Of Chaos And Eternal Night EP, available domestically on one CD with brand new
artwork created by guitarist Niklas Sundin. The reissue was released last September.
