Bad Religion Reunite For The Process of Belief
BAD RELIGION REUNITE AND RETURN TO STUDIO THIS WEEK TO RECORD ‘THE PROCESS OF BELIEF’ FOR EPITAPH
After almost six years since parting ways, original
BAD RELIGION songwriting duo Brett Gurewitz and Greg
Graffin are heading back in the studio this week to
record a new album, slated for an October 23 release.
The new record – titled 'The Process of Belief' – will
be released on Epitaph, the label that was started by
the Gurewitz himself and released every Bad Religion
album up until 1993’s 'Recipe For Hate.'
“This is definitely a homecoming on many levels,” says
Graffin. “Bad Religion albums are always more
satisfying when our songwriting is combined. But aside
from the professional logistics, this is also a time
of great warmth and familiarity. To have the chance to
write and record with Brett again, and to come back to
our Epitaph home is gratifying to say the least.”
Bad Religion will record and mix the majority of the
record in Gurewitz’s Hollywood based Westbeach
Studios, where such landmark BR albums as 'Suffer' and
'Against the Grain' were recorded. Gurewitz will
produce, and will reunite with producer Jerry Finn
(Rancid '…And Out Come the Wolves,' Pennywise 'About
Time') to mix some tracks on the record.
Bad Religion’s palpable influence on the world of punk
rock and beyond is undeniable. Their intelligent
lyrics, biting cultural commentary and trademark
‘melodic hardcore’ sound both defined a scene and
spawned the So Cal pop-punk revolution that began in
the early 90s. Bands as diverse as Blink 182,
Sublime/Long Beach Dub Allstars and Pearl Jam’s Eddie
Vedder have cited Bad Religion as influences.
Additionally, Gurewitz’s Epitaph label has launched
the careers of such punk stalwarts as The Offspring,
Rancid, Pennywise and NOFX.
“This album is the logical next step to (1994’s)
'Stranger Than Fiction,'” says Gurewitz. “It’s
exciting to be back in the fold.” Stay tuned for more
