TEAM SLEEP, the side project of DEFTONES frontman Chino Moreno and his friends, DJ Crook and guitarist Todd Wilkenson, are reportedly close to finishing work on their as-yet-untitled disc, which they've been recording in Seattle with producer Terry Date (i.e. DEFTONES, PANTERA, MACHINE HEAD). The album, which will feature guest appearances from DEFTONES members Abe Cunningham (drums), Stephen Carpenter (guitar) and Frank Delgado (turntables), is tentatively scheduled to be released through Maverick Recordings in early 2002. Among the tracks that are tentatively scheduled to appear on the CD are the following:
01. Kool-Aid Party
02. King Diamond (instrumental)
03. Ligeia
In related news, KUSH, the side project of DEFTONES guitarist Stephen Carpenter—which also features in its ranks FEAR FACTORY bassist Christian Olde Wolbers, FF drummer Raymond Herrera and CYPRESS HILL frontman B-Real—may be forced to change their name to DR. KUSH due to possible trademark issues. The group's already-completed debut album is tentatively scheduled to emerge through an as-yet-undetermined label sometime next year.
Finally, Abe Cunningham's former musical project, PHALLUCY, a band that he briefly joined after temporarily leaving the DEFTONES in the early '90s, will have its long-ago-recorded debut remixed and issued in a limited edition of 1,000 copies via the DEFTONES' official web site later this summer.
