[Opeth] "I hate going away from home. I suffer everyday on tour, to be honest. But I love playing shows – the shows are always great and I feel like a fucking million bucks. I hate everything else. It doesn’t matter that I’m out here working in a way. I love doing this – I love being in a band, I love recording albums. Even though I am providing for my family, I can’t shake the feeling of not doing the right thing because I’m not there for them; it’s as simple as that." - Michael Akerfeldt
[Sigh] "When we started Sigh in 1990, at the very first show we played, we covered “Welcome to Hell,” and we have been doing Venom covers for 18 years. It was a good idea to do another tribute to Venom. Finally, we have a new saxophone player, Mikannibal, and we wanted more fans, but creating another studio album could take much longer so we thought that another tribute to Venom would be the best choice. I think that it was a very good idea to have her on the vocals for the Venom tribute." - Mirai
[Amon Amarth] "Nowadays it’s better than it has in a long time. Since we can do it full-time, it’s more relaxed. Much less tension and stuff because you can focus much more and have time for your own life on the side. Even though we tour a lot, we don’t have to work when get back, so we can spend a few days on the side which makes it a lot more comfortable. The atmosphere in the band is very relaxed and good. Everyone is really happy and looking forward to the new season and album." - Ted Lundstrom
[Metal Blade Invades Ozzfest 2008 Pt 2: King Diamond] “It seems like there was confusion on stage. I didn’t know what I was going to sing until about five before I went on. They had some kind of rehearsal at Vinnie’s house, but I didn’t get a chance to go there. Vinnie lives in Arlington; I live in Frisco, which is north of Dallas. The drive there is about an hour and a half for me. I couldn’t drive an hour and a half both ways, in the middle of the night with my back being in the shape it is in. That is not the best thing for my back at the moment. It was what it was. I always want things to be perfect. It wasn’t perfect, but I’ll do anything for Dime’s memory." - King Diamond
[Metal Blade Invades Ozzfest 2008] “It is really cool to be out there playing in front of so many people, especially with both bands. I’m only the second singer who played with two bands at Ozzfest. There have been other festivals where people like Zakk Wylde pulled double duty, but I’m only the second vocalist to do it. It seems like I would get a little plaque or something. You would think I would get to meet him in person because of that. He wouldn’t even have to say anything, just shake my hand.” - Soilent Green's Ben Falgoust
[Swallow the Sun] "Well, all the people in the band are such huge personalities, that I sometimes wish I could have just basic stupid people here that doesn’t say anything back, hahah, but then again, some things wouldn’t be as good as they are now. I’m no dictator for sure, but still want to keep this band in my hands pretty much." - Juha Raivio
[Get Thrashed] "A lot of things were working against us as we were making the movie, but in the end, the stars aligned for the release date because not only do you have the resurgence of thrash, but you had the Metallica CD [Death Magnetic] come out the same day as Get Thrashed. If you look up the CD on Amazon, you’ll see our DVD and that wasn’t planned [laughs]. Perhaps it was the Gods smiling on us for the blood, sweat, and tears we put into this thing." - Rick Ernst
[Trigger the Bloodshed] "For us it was a case of making the music we love. We weren’t sticking to any death metal formula or any plans we had mapped out, we just set to writing the heaviest, most blasting music we could and it came out real well! It was definitely the right album for us at the time, however there is still a lot more to come." - Rob Purnell
[Dragonforce] “Everybody’s been calling it ‘Sonic Beatdown,’ because we have an album called Sonic Firestorm. Basically, we didn’t put up any boundaries. We took a long time to write the songs and to record. It was a long process making sure the record is better than Inhuman Rampage. The main thing is to come out better than before. We didn’t say what we’re not going to do. We even have a mid-tempo song, which we usually don’t.” - Herman Li
[Artist Colin Marks] "There’s definitely beauty in decay. I was always more into this kind of thing. A lot of things that most people would consider ugly, aren’t. It’s just a matter of opinion, but I was always drawn to it. I don’t think I’m necessarily trying to point out the darker side of life, but things aren’t all clean and bright and happy, and who would want it to be? This kind of vision just comes naturally to me." - Colin Marks
