[Omnium Gatherum]“Strange but true, this piece's working title was 'Spider Crab of Osaka' because this one was influenced by those strange creatures of the deep. I was watching some nature documentary of those fellas at the same time when I had guitar in my hand. Though, the opening arpeggio of the song is old as hell, dating as far back as ’97. This ongoing instrumental saga started on the Snakes Way album title 'Snake & the Way,' and I’m sure it’ll continue in the future releases. From snakes to crabs and what comes after that?" - Markus Vanhala

[Concert Review: Testament]Aside from Halford's gangly, uncomfortable stage presence and Vinny Appice's slow-footed butchering of the bulk of Heaven and Hell's set, the resounding memory from the August 10 Metal Masters stop in Pittsburgh was Testament singer Chuck Billy and his exclamation that, "I didn't know Pittsburgh was so metal!" What, Billy didn't know Pittsburgh was so metal? What rock has he been hiding under?

[Amon Amarth]Like any great metal band, Amon Amarth’s albums have this quality that is the perfect motivator during those shitty work days. Tracks like the title track and “Guardians of Asgaard” contain plenty of triumphant sing-along passages. Listeners may also find their selves humming many of the group’s numerous captivating rhythms. With Twilight of the Thunder God, Amon Amarth keeps the Viking war machine rolling and presents one of the best albums of 2008!
