ELUVEITIE Frontman To Hold Lecture On Gallic Wars At Swiss University

Chrigel Glanzmann, frontman, bandleader, songwriter and lyricist for Swiss folk metallers ELUVEITIE, has confirmed his participation on an open forum about the Gallic Wars.

The event will take place on November 22 at the Zurich University and will be hosted by PD Dr. Eckhard Deschler-Erb.

In addition to Chrigel's lecture, ELUVEITIE's latest album, "Helvetios", will be featured throughout the evening.

"We are super-happy about this special request from the Zurich University," says Chrigel. "I feel deeply honored to take part in Dr. Deschler-Erb's lecture series. This will, for sure, be an exciting and educational event."

The Gallic Wars were a series of military campaigns waged by the Roman proconsul Julius Caesar against several Gallic tribes, Galli being the Latin equivalent of Celt. These tribes, along with many others, made up the confederation of tribes that was the Celtic nation, or the Celtic Tribe of Tribes. Rome's war against the Gallic tribes lasted from 58 BC to 50 BC and culminated in the decisive Battle of Alesia in 52 BC, in which a complete Roman victory resulted in the expansion of the Roman Republic over the whole of Gaul (mainly present day France and Belgium). The wars paved the way for Julius Caesar to become the sole ruler of the Roman Republic.

ELUVEITIE and Finnish metallers WINTERSUN will co-headline a North American tour this winter. The trek will commemorate ELUVEITIE's 10th anniversary as well as serve as WINTERSUN's introduction to North American shores. Also appearing on the bill will bethe German pagan metal act VARG.
