Satan's Host

By:

Blistering.com: That being said, I think it’s commendable that you can go from being thrashy and melodic to what you are on the new album – dark, brutal and unrelenting. Was that a conscious move?

Elixir:
Yes, for the most part it was a conscious effort. Pete 3 Wicked, was wanting to do more blasting as with double kicks of speed and quicker tom rolls, basically his overall attack was of more fire and fury. The structuring was done with a more perceptive idea for the brutality of our Satanic pwwer. Catchier power riffs, mosh riffs, solid grooves, as with very melodic and tasteful leads and harmonies.

Blistering.com: As for the new album, what does the title, Great Great American Scapegoat represent?

Elixir:
It is a representation of us and our kind in this country that we live in: The Left Hand Path Practitioners of the United States of America. It is what we are, in the eyes of the right-winged corporate cunts. It is a symbol of Satanic liberation, being an American.

Blistering.com: (Producer) Dave Otero did an excellent job with the album. What’s it like working with him?

Elixir:
Pure greatness! He is a genius in this realm of music. He truly makes everyone step up their game, as with the ability to bring out the best in everyone involved. He put his heart and soul into the project, as if a member of the group. Hell, he is a Taurus as well, together we create perfection amongst each other.

Blistering.com: I think one of the coolest things about Great American Scapegoatare the various twists and turns throughout the album (i.e. the very Euro “Hail Satan” to the brutal “Azreal”).

Elixir:
In our compositions we utilize different modes, as with cycles of modes in each of our tracks. We even write them in different keys, so as to capture a very different vibe from song too song. As far as the final listing for the CD, we map it out when we are complete w/ the mix downs. We go with what creates the most out or ideals, of a Ritualistic Ceremony in the Nocturnal vibrations of our Satanic Metal From Hell.

Blistering.com: At this point in your career, are you pretty much set in your ways?

Elixir:
Yes, to a degree. Though we are always trying to better our craft, both as individuals and as a group. Evolve or die! We plan on being around for a very long time in this realm of Satanic Metal from Hell.

Blistering.com: Creatively speaking, the band seems to have an overload of ideas. What prompts your creativity?

Elixir:
Yes, we do have a grip load of ideals. Ourselves, as with what we are into - The Black Arts. The evolution of the times we live in, as with pushing ourselves to be pioneers in this genre of music.

Blistering.com: SH’s message is Satanic, but there appears to be a strong Occult flair to it. What separates you from a traditional Satanic metal band?

Elixir:
Yes, very true. We are very much in the now with this new Aeon that we are living in. "The Rise of Lucifer." We are educated, well read and informed with what is happening in the now of the Left Hand Path. We don't corner ourselves in one form of the Black Arts. We work in all forms of Satanic Philosophies of Life. We exuviate belief in oneself, as with the exploration of workings in the realm of demons, from several of cultures and time periods of history. We are the true possessors of the Black Flame. We consummately evolve with the changing times, hell we embrace the change, and forge a new that has never been before.

Blistering.com: In terms of your ideologies, is it safe to say SH is more rooted in the early days of black metal – Mercyful Fate, Venom, etc. than the second wave of black metal?

Elixir:
It depends on the individual in this group. As a collective whole we span over three decades of metal. Though for the most part this is where it all came from, so we are true to the core source. We do entwine the second movement of black metal, into ideas every now and then in our compositions, as with other genres and times of metal. We utilize what I call several of colors when we write and compose, this is what gives us a challenge in the Art of Satanic Metal From Hell...666.

Blistering.com: Is Satan’s Host active on the live front and if so, describe the live experience?

Elixir:
Yes, we are a live group. Our live shows are more of a Satanic Ceremony in the realm of metal. We work in spoken incantations, which help guide the legions/fans through the show. There's an Intro/Incantation with ambient guitar work. Then we interlude the set with Satanic Philosophies between songs introducing songs. As with a conclusion which will send the demons back, too where they were summoned from, till next the conjuring is performed. We work very hard too create a very empowering experience for the legions/fans when they come out to see us live. Our goal is to enlighten our legions, as well as to empower them.
