The last release in Blood Duster’s unholy trio of remastered and repackaged re-releases is their infamous and rather controversial second full-length effort Cunt, which was originally released on Dr. Jim’s Records back in 2000. Much like their previous effort (1998’s Str8outtanorthcote), Cunt is predominately more death rock based, rather than the straight out grindcore sound of their first couple of EPs.

Thematically based around porn, Cunt provided plenty of laughs (and still does I might add) with it’s over the top samples, along with its fair share of classics on the song front. From the opening sample (which starts off with the fast paced “We Are The Word Police”), Blood Duster (who at the time comprised of vocalist Tony Forde, guitarist Matty “Lowpantz” Collins, bassist/vocalist Jason P.C. and drummer Matt Rizzo) rock/blast their way through 19 tracks in just under 28 minutes, including the strange (and rather irritating) noisescape experiments that follow “Sweet Meat” and the band’s cover of Impetigo’s “Dis-Organ-Ized.”

Highlights on Cunt include “Porn Store Stiffi” (the closest thing the band came to a hit single off the album), the chaotic blast of “Another Slack Arsed Aussie Band,” “I Just Finished Sucking Off Metalheads In The Mens Urinals” (if only for the title!), the stoner rock-like “Hoochie Mumma,” the riff heavy “A Track Suit Is Not Appropriate Metal Apparel” and the catchy “Is Killing Clones Illegal.”

Unlike Blood Duster’s previous re-releases, Cunt is only expanded with the addition of “I’ll Be Gonz” (otherwise known as Spectrum’s classic “I’ll Be Gone” from 1971), which originally appeared on Rare Vision Records’s charity album from 2001. As mentioned in the brief liner notes, Blood Duster only rehearsed the song on the day of the recording, and you can tell.

While it’s great to have a bonus track added to Cunt, it’s a little disappointing to find that this re-release omits the hidden eight minute techno/remix track “Digital Remix Shit” from the original (which they also did to the re-release of Str8outtanorthcote). The packaging is the same as the other two re-releases (apart from Glenn Smith’s cover artwork that is), which again is a little disappointing. Overall, if you already own Cunt then this re-release won’t appear all that attractive. However, if you’re finding it a little hard to track down a copy, then this will no doubt be essential.
